WATSON (JAMES), bookseller and publisher in London, (1) over against Hungerford Market; (2) Wardrobe Court, Great Carter Lane. 1728–35 (?) On December 5th, 1728, the Secretary of State issued a search warrant in connexion with certain "scandalous and seditious libels", about to be printed and published by James Watson. [S. P. Dom., Geo. II, Bundle 9.] He also dealt in such literature as The Adventures of the Priests and Nuns, and The Adventures of the Bath. In 1735 he was selling The Syren in Wardrobe Court.
