BAKER (J.), bookseller in London, Black Boy, Paternoster Row, 1680–1710. In the Post Man for January 13th, 1680, he advertised The Political State of Great Britain, but advertised nothing in the Term Catalogues until 1709, when he entered A Vindication of the Church and Clergy of England from some late Reproaches. He dealt chiefly in theology. A J. Baker was senior warden of the Company of Stationers in 1686–7.
