The standart [sic], or measure of all just lawes; which is threefold. 1. Their originall and rise, viz. the free choice, or election of the people. 2. Their rule and square, viz. principle; of justice, righteousnesse, and truth. 3. Their use and end, viz. the liberty safety of the people. II. The laws of England weighed in this threefold balance, & found too light. 1. In their originall, force, power, conquest, or constraint. 2. In their rule, corrupt will, or principles of unrighteousnesse and wrong. 3. In their end, the grievance, trouble, and bondage of the people. III.
