- In two parts. The first part, "Of schism", is a reply by John Owen to an attack on him in Daniel Cawdrey's "Independency further proved to be a schism" (Wing C1631). It is not to be confused with a work Owen published in 1657 with the same title (Wing O780). The second part, "The preface", is John Cotton's defence of charges made against him by Cawdrey in "The inconsistencie of the independent way" (Wing C1629).
