A description of an improved portable sliding rule. With proper examples of its use, not only to the officers of the revenue but artificers also; in measuring timber, joiners, painters work, &c. and in gauging all solids and superficies, with greater accuracy than by the common rules. To which is prefixed, a short treatise of decimals, necessary for the better understanding the divisions of the lines on the rule; to which purpose also numeration on the rules is treated of in a more ample manner than hitherto done. Collected from the several writers on this subject, and offered to the publick. By a lover of the mathematicks
