- With a dedication to Alexander Pope, signed "L. M." who is styled "the publisher"; the copy was in fact communicated by Matthew Pilkington to the printer, Benjamin Motte. Swift, in a letter to Pope, calls this edition "spurious" (see Motte's letter to Swift of 31 July 1735: Swift, Correspondence, ed. Woolley, 1036, 1179). Nonetheless, it is thought that this is indeed by Swift, secretly passed to the press by way of Pilkington (See Teerink-Scouten, 727)
