An essay concerning the nature of the priesthood. Shewing, that it was not originally confined to a particular order of men, and never to the first-born: that under the Jews the ceremonial law was the care of the priests, the moral law that of the prophets: that among the heathens, the philosophers were to them what the prophets were to the Jews; to whom (and not to the sons of Aaron) the Christian priests are successors.
