It appears that the title transcribed above, which refers only to the contents of v. 1, was not intended to be a general title for the whole work (but was rather the title page to a single volume, not originally intended as the first of two), because the directions to the binder at the end of v. 2 conclude: "Place the new title & contents of vol. I. (now stitched at the end of this second vol.) before the volume they belong to, & cancel the old title."
